CHICAGO AREA BUSINESSMAN ACHIEVES NEW DREAM STARTUP:
A FOUNDATION TO HELP ADOLESCENTS
CHICAGO - October 17th, 2000 -- In today's topsy-turvy, overnight success, instant millionaire world of e commerce, it's become routine to read yet another story about a sharp, young business professional who strikes it rich with a new startup venture. Well, how about a story about a sharp business professional who achieves success with a startup of a different kind?
Dirk Beveridge, internationally recognized management consultant and president of Beveridge Consulting Group, has done just that with the formation of the LEO Foundation, a private organization whose mission is to fund programs that provide adolescents with training in leadership and life skills.
According to Beveridge, the foundation (no pun intended) of the LEO Foundation is simply an abiding optimism and belief in today's youth. "LEO is an acronym for love, education and opportunity," he says. "It is my belief that every young person possesses the energy, drive and desire to compete and achieve success. What many of them lack, unfortunately, are the tools needed to channel their energies in the proper direction.
"I owe any success I have achieved to the love, education and opportunity I was exposed to as a young adult. Any of us who have achieved a degree of success need only ask the question: 'Where would we be today without these three essential qualities?'"
Beveridge's intent is to make the LEO Foundation the change agent to help talented youths stay in the game. And he's leading by example with a personal pledge of $100,000 to launch LEO. He has successfully worked in several of his business interests to aid in the fundraising cause.
Says Beveridge: "LEO affords us all a chance to look back, thank those who have helped us along the way and reach out to help others. I'm very proud to be able to contribute my time, energies and to this effort that means so much to me and helps adolescents find their path in life".
