A Message From the Director
We live in a time of unprecedented change in our world. With that change comes incredible opportunities and daunting risks for all of us. If we are to conduct ourselves as part of the human family, then we are each responsible for nurturing each other and doing all we can to insure success.
That statement has never been more appropriate than as it applies to, perhaps, the most delicate members in our family - our adolescents. These young people, at such a critical stage in their lives, are forming opinions and fashioning practices that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. And these opinions and practices, executed in masse, can have a profound impact on our society and the welfare of our culture.
For these reasons it is extremely important that we reach our adolescents sooner than later; that we teach the right way to go; and that we equip them with the essentials tools to succeed and prosper in our world. They are our future - we owe this to them.
If we don't exercise our leadership with young people, we can be sure that other forces will gain the upper hand. Whether it's crime, drugs, teen gangs, truancy or personal family crises, young people and their potential will be forever buried, without a chance to ever rise and be counted and acknowledged for being among the true "value adders" in this society.
That's why we formed the LEO Foundation. We believe we live in a time of unprecedented opportunity for everyone, especially for our young people. We believe in our young people and their sincere desire to excel and achieve. We believe young people simply need the proper tools and guidance to have a fair chance at taking advantage of this wondrous opportunity.
At the LEO Foundation, we want to create access for young people to these tools by providing them with Love, Education and Opportunity. We believe these elements are essential building blocks in the development of happy, successful, productive young people.
We are excited by the possibilities presented by the LEO Foundation. We hope you find substance within this report and see fit to offer your support in this endeavor, too.
